DILASA is the name given to the various interventions of Sangli mission Society carried out for the care and support of People living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAS), such as prevention and control of AIDS, stigma eradication, rehabilitation etc. Sangli Mission runs a hospice (Dilasa Bhavan) in Miraj, two community care centres (CCC) and four coordination centres in each district for the care and support of PLHAS Sangli Mission Society started working for HIV/AIDS infected and affected people in the early 1990s and this program got institutionalized under the banner – of DILASA by 2004. It is catering to the needs of PLHIVs (Persons Living with HIV/AIDS) in two ways as Institution Based Rehabilitation (IBR) and Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR). It has expanded its mission among the PHLAs in four districts of Maharashtra, namely, Sangli (Dilasa Bhavan, Miraj), Kolhapur (Dilasa, Kolhapur), Ratnagiri (Navjeevan Arogya Kendra) and Sindhudurg. The meaning attributed to the word DILASA is Divine Invitation to Love and Serve the Abandoned (DILASA).
Dilasa Bhavan, Miraj
Dilasa Bhavan is the home for the DHIV/AIDS-infected boys who are single/double orphans after the Institution Based Rehabilitation model (IBR). This centre provides the children with all the facilities related to their education, medication, health and accommodation free of cost. At present, there are children; 25 boys. there are ten staff working in Dilasa Bhavan. 2.
